Preface[edit]

First things first ;-)

This is by no means a complete list of online shop alternatives made to avoid buying at Amazon.
But if you're interested in electronics, do it yourself (DIY) items and so on - maybe, you can give those shops a try.
Nowadays Amazon is more or less the monopolist for online shopping and one of the oligopolists for cloud computing (together with Google and Microsoft).
In my personal opinion this should have an end, therefore I try to avoid them whenever possible.

It's also important that:

  • I get no money at all for listing those online shops
  • none of the URLs below are so called "affiliated links"
  • those URLs are primarily focused on online shops in Austria (or Germany)
  • this is no real marketing at all for those shops ;-)

But I've used all of them at least once for my personal shopping, and they convinced me in terms of price, delivery and service.

Shop Alternatives[edit]

  • Price Comparison:
https://geizhals.at
I use Geizhals for searching for the best prices, but I also look here for shops located in Austria.
  • Electronics / PC components
https://haym.info
https://www.mylemon.at
Both shops are located in Austria, and like in the ones listed below there's no need to create an account. So it's possible to buy as a guest here, too.
At mylemon you can also get electrical tools like drilling machines, etc.
  • "Smart"Home electrics
https://www.elektroshopwagner.at/
https://www.elektrowelt-austria.at/
If you're looking for KNX equipment like sensors and actors (e.g. for BJ) those shops might fit your needs - both shops are located in Austria.
The prices there are way better than on Amazon or Ebay.
Cables, fuses and many more can be found here:
https://www.gottwald.at/
Here you get very good service and real good prices, too!
=> So don't let your local electrician shop fool on you ;-)
  • Household appliances
https://www.sopo.at/
I bought some Siemens household appliances for our kitchen there, and a good colleague of mine enjoyed the experience with this shop, too.
  • Solar / plumber equimpment
https://www.sani-flex.de/
It's not that easy to get equipment online for e.g. the solar heating system, so this shop is really helpful.
By the way, using sun energy is cool, no electricity/wood or heating oil needed anymore. Almost zero CO2 :-)
  • Tools:
https://www.contorion.at/
I've to admit that I really like to make things on my own, for example wooden lamps, speakers, electronic components and a lot more.
Therefore I need a lot of tools, and here this shop comes in perfectly ;-)
  • ...many more to come, please stay tuned...
